2009 MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

LIANA GONZALEZ

Congratulations!!! 

Liana Gonzalez was honored as the 2009 RISPA Scholarship recipient at a conference held at Rhode Island College this spring.  Liana received her undergraduate degree from RIC in 2008 and is currently enrolled in their School Psychology Program.  Liana is bilingual in English and Spanish and has aspirations of becoming a Certified Bilingual School Psychologist.  Fort he past 15 years she has been involved with City Year, a non profit community organization which encouraged her to go back to school.  She works with the Young Heroes Program assisting adolescent youth to work in the community.  She has worked at a diverse Providence Middle School which has nearly a 70 percent Hispanic population.  As one of the few members of the faculty who spoke Spanish she counseled students and was also a liaison between Rhode Island Truancy Court, the school, family and teachers.  Congratulations Liana!
