Happy New Year! I hope that this message finds all in good health and good spirits. At this time I would like to thank all for your support and efforts in assisting RISPA in being the great organization that it is.
As many of you are aware the Rhode Island Board of Regents has voted to accept proposed changes to special education proposed by the Department of Education. If you have not reviewed those changes I encourage all to do so. The final regulations are now posted at the RI Department of Education website. Many thanks to all who assisted in developing RISPA’s position statement in response to proposed regulation 300.157 (c). Also, thanks to all who attended and provided testimony at Public Hearings.
I look forward to seeing each of you at RISPA’s Annual Reading Symposium where our featured speaker will be Dr. Susan Hall author of “I’ve Dibled Now What?” The conference is scheduled for April 11, 2008.
Keep a look out for RISPA’s Networking and Awards Presentation event, which will be held in May 2008. The event is free to all RISPA members. The trainer/practitioner networking event is designed to provide a forum for school psychologists and school psychology students the opportunity to network. At this event, RISPA will also acknowledge and award several psychologists and students who are doing some outstanding work in the field of school psychology.
As always, a BIG “Thank-You” to RISPA Board Members.
